A 54-year-old female presents to your Emergency Department with left wrist pain following a trip and fall. She has no other past medical history. A frontal and lateral wrist X-ray is obtained.

Your registrar reviews the patient and requests an orthopaedic consultation. A decision is made to perform a closed reduction in your department under a Biers block and consent is obtained.

Your registrar is happy to proceed with the Bier’s block independently, with the orthopaedic registrar performing the wrist reduction. Some time later, whilst atending to another patient, you hear the arrest buzzer alarming for the patient undergoing the Bier’s block.
